I have accompanied many opera singers and instrumentalists at concerts, master-classes and competitions and have acted as the official accompanist for various operatic and music theatre competitions in London, Sherborne and Yeovil. I have also accompanied choirs and have acted as an Associated Board accompanist on numerous occasions. As a part-time music lecturer at Strode College, I was the official accompanist for A-level students within the college and participated in public concerts at Strode Theatre.
Weddings and Events
I am also an accomplished pianist for weddings and corporate events, at which I play a variety of styles, everything from classical to jazz, popular and film music. To date, I have played for events in London, various locations in Somerset and in September 2015, at Salisbury Cathedral. If no piano is available, my portable digital piano travels with me! I enjoy this lighter side of my music-making as it brings me into contact with a wide variety of people and enables me to perform music outside the classical realm. I am very much looking forward to playing for two weddings in Somerset later in 2017.
New Horizons:I have fairly recently discovered the joy of composing and am collaborating with other musicians to this end. I recently entered my first competition with 2 piano compositions and was pleased to get through the first 3 rounds so this is definitely something I will be exploring in more depth.
I am a member of EPTA (European Piano Teachers’ Association) and the Musicians' Union.
I have also worked for BBC Radio 3 in London between 1984 and 1987 - as Administrator to the BBC Singers, as a Production Assistant to Anthony Burton (then a senior Radio 3 Producer) and as a Negotiator in the Legal Department, negotiating contracts with music agents for Radio 3 artists.
I was a Production Assistant for EMI (Classical) Records in London from 1988-1990 where I held responsibility for co-ordinating the manufacture and distribution of records, cassettes and CDs in music stores throughout the UK.
