I have accompanied some of the world's finest opera singers, such as the tenors, Alexander Grove and Stuart Skelton (the latter, in 2018). I have accompanied singers at concerts and master-classes and have acted as the official accompanist for various operatic and music theatre competitions in London, Sherborne and Yeovil. I have also accompanied choirs and have been engaged as an Associated Board accompanist for most orchestral instruments on numerous occasions. As a music lecturer at Strode College, I was the official accompanist for A-level students within the college and participated in public concerts at Strode Theatre.
Weddings and Events
I perform at weddings and corporate events, at which I play a variety of styles, everything from classical to jazz, popular and film music. I have played for events in London, Dorset and Somerset and at Salisbury Cathedral. If no piano is available, my portable digital piano and amplifier travel with me! I really enjoy this side of my music-making as it brings me into contact with a wide variety of people and frequently enables me to perform music outside of the classical realm. In 2019, I fulfilled several such engagements in Somerset at a variety of weddings and events venues and have several engagements booked for 2020.
I am a member of EPTA (European Piano Teachers’ Association) and the Musicians' Union.
I have also worked for BBC Radio 3 in London between 1984 and 1987 - as Administrator to the BBC Singers, as a Production Assistant to Anthony Burton (then a senior Radio 3 Producer) and as a Negotiator in the Legal Department, negotiating contracts with music agents for Radio 3 artists.
I was a Production Assistant for EMI (Classical) Records in London from 1988-1990 where I held responsibility for co-ordinating the manufacture and distribution of records, cassettes and CDs in music stores throughout the UK.
